Tim Fierro Takes 38th at WSOP Event #3
Wins $12,591 - Congratulations Tim
http://www.wsop.com/players/playerprofile.asp?playerID=91642

Was fun, went out with my AK versus AA in round 20 on the 3rd day. From memory, as I just got home and it is 01:00 AM right now, but it may have been round 21. Highlights: Men the Master taking my first pot I lost in 2 days. 2 Hands later, I bumped it up with pocket KK. He asked if I was trying to needle him. I told him no, it is just that he took my only pot I lost at showdown, and I wanted my chips back.

But all in all, not a bad cash for only my second year going to the WSOP. Was 10th in chips at one point in Day 1A, and that was scary. I have never had to stack so many chips in front of me and still try to find a place to lift my cards to view my hand.

I don't know if anyone knows this, but my first live game was at Mako's Bar/Lounge with No Fee's quarterly game. There was like 130 players that day a few years ago. I can say that this league has been a major stepping stone to getting to this day, my first cash in the WSOP.

Thank you Don & Bernadette!

Terry Smith wins GPF Championship
Smith's Pocket Aces seal Troy Cable's Fate
The Robert Richey Memorial Cup will spend the next six months at the Envy Bar and Grill in Poulsbo.  With a single face card, Troy Cable of Olympia called Terry Smith's all-in bet.  Much to the chagrin of Cable, Smith turned over pocket aces which held up to give Smith the victory at the Global Poker Federation Washington State Amateur Poker Championship which was held Saturday May 15th at the Halftime Saloon in Gig Harbor.  Of the 139 individuals that qualified for play, 49 showed up for the tournament,  greatly increasing the odds of winning for those in attendance. - Stay tuned for further details and pictures.

GPF points are awarded to the top 20 leaders each week.

Terry Smith Hits Royal Flush at Envy Bar
"I started the hand with king 10 of clubs ... I was kinda low stack so was playing kinda tight and thought I would give this had a try .. I called the bb at 1000. no pre flop raise and I am in the hand .. the flop comes with jack ace clubs and another card that didn't match .. there is a bet of 1000 on the table .. I called .. 3 people in the hand .. I have about 11000 chips left .. the turn card is off .. red card .. I think .. the bet is only 1000 .. I call .. river card is the queen of clubs .. gives me the royal .. bet is made to 5000 from person that landed a straight .. other person calls with 2 pair .. I raise all in with only 5k more to go .. both call and wow .. what a hand .... that is how I remember it." - Terry Smith

The Value of Free Poker to You!
What does it take to become skilled at the game of Texas Holdem?  One of the league's hosts in our early days, Jerry Marquez, a Texas Holdem dealer at the Clearwater Casino, once commented that for a player to go from novice to average playing in Casino Tournaments would require an investment of approximately $10,000.  And that's just to become average.  Two months in a row we have seen league members advance through large fields of players at Little Creek Casino and win substantial cash payouts.  We would like to believe that the experience they have acquired through free league play has been instrumental in helping to develop their game to this level.
